Good things ahead
Message to subscribers, friends and supporters,
There are some exciting new elements to tell you about as the new season approaches. All are critical to the growth of OCS and our continuing sustainability in providing the 9 concert season we have pledged to bring to our community.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Phyllis Eichler to the new board position of Director of Marketing and Development. Dr. Eichler has served for many years as in a Development capacity with Successful Living Center, Costa Mesa and remains on their Advisory Council. She is the President and CEO of a Electronics Distribution firm celebrating over 40 years in business. We welcome Dr. Eichler and look forward to the tremendous experience, insight and knowledge she brings that promise a very rewarding and mutually satisfying relationship.
Another exciting new development is the collaboration we are forming with the Anaheim City School District headed by Dr. Linda Wagner as we work to fine tune a project to go forward with plans for afterschool instruction in instrument performance for our young students.
Included with this mailing is the form detailing the ad campaign underway for the concert program book designed for the 2013-2014 season. Please take a moment to consider inviting someone you do business with to support the symphony by placing an ad. The book will be presented to concert patrons at each of 9 concerts and will also be included in our PR marketing that reaches the leaders in the arts, business, government, charitable giving and foundation communities.
Both Dr. Tony Mazzaferro and Dr. David Rentz have given great time and careful consideration to planning this exciting new season. The Piano Concerto Competition will be done by collaboration with the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) and will feature the top 3 winners as soloists on the August 25, 2013 program with the OCS ensemble. In November, 2013 we will feature Guest conductor, David Cubek bringing the compelling and beautiful music of Venezuela as well as favorites from other Latin American Countries. Please take a look at the diverse cornucopia of fabulous literature in store for our concert patrons as we fulfill our pledge to provide an annual concert season right here in Anaheim.
There are two locations to be determined: one in February 2014 and the other in May, 2014. We will also have one change of dates in the previously announced listing. The concert date in March will be on Sunday March 16, 2014. Attention will be called to this in all press releases, from the concert podium and on the web site announcements.
Part of our ongoing mission is to enhance awareness in the community about the symphony, thus increasing concert attendance. This month we will again welcome guests from our Outreach Programs as the numbers continue to grow each concert. Please let us know if you know of a group of underserved people in our community that might benefit from a concert experience. Our President, Mike Anderson is the Outreach Program Chair.
I continue to speak regularly during the public comments segment of Anaheim City Council meetings, and welcome invitations to any group you may know of where I might find a platform to visit and further spread the message that we bring beautiful music of the highest performance standard to local concert audiences on a regularly scheduled basis at affordable cost….and free parking.. Needless to say…the tried and true word of mouth proves again and again to be the very most effective form of marketing ever known. Every subscriber will continue to have 4 tickets to each concert. As those tickets are all used, we will see significant increases in concert attendance. Your ongoing support makes it possible. We are all part of a team.
Together we make it happen!
