The Orange County Symphony (OCS) will present the first concert of its 2015-16 season on Sunday, August 30, featuring performances by the winners of the joint concerto competition held by the orchestra, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, and Joint Chamber Music. The winners range in age from fourteen to seventeen and attend high schools in Santa Ana, Irvine, Santa Monica, and San Juan Capistrano. This third annual concert for competition-winners promises to be an exciting event, with vibrant playing by a diverse slate of young soloists.

Founded in 1985, the Orange County Symphony is a regional semi-professional orchestra serving a metropolitan area of approximately 3 million people. The OCS is honored to be part of the Anaheim community and in July 2011 was designated as the Resident Symphony Orchestra for the City of Anaheim. The orchestra is led by Dr. David Rentz, an accomplished choral, orchestral, and opera conductor, who currently serves on the music faculty at Chaffey College, as resident conductor of the Chamber Opera Players of Los Angeles, and as choral director at the First Congregational Church of Riverside.
